Roppongi (六本木) is one of the main night life areas of Tokyo located with the Minato-ku ward. Roppongi has hundreds of bars, restaurants and nightclubs that are open until around 5am most nights which is around when the first trains run in the morning.
Most of the nightlife doesn't get started until late in the evening at around 10.30pm - 11pm. The bars and restaurants are all opened earlier thought he crowd hits Roppongi later. The main street of Roppongi, Gaien Higashi Dori is where the majority of the nightlife can be found. There are many laneways of these main street. Zojoji Temple (増上寺) is a buddist temple just east of Roppongi in Shiba. The temple was first founded in the 1398 in the Kando region (East Japan) then moved to it's current place in 1598. Tokyo Tower is around a 15 - 20 minute walk from Roppongi. Tokyo Tower is 333 meters tall with the main observation deck 150 meters which gives 360 degree views over Tokyo and on a clear day you can see Mount Fuji. There is a smaller observation deck at 250m. The observation decks are open everyday from 9am - 10pm.

Art Galleries in RoppongiThe National Art Centre Tokyo is located 530m from Roppongi Crossing. The walk is well sign posted with directions to the art gallery.
Mori Art Museum is located in Roppongi on the top 6 floors the 54 story Mori Tower. As well as some great contemporary art, there are fantastic views of Tokyo. The exhibitions at Mori Art Museum are constantly changing. Suntory Museum of Art is located within the Galleries Shopping Mall in the Tokyo Midtown Centre. The Suntory Museum of Art is just a 5 minutes walk from The National Art Centre. Bars and Nightclubs in RoppongiThere are too many bars and and nightclubs to list here though these are the more popular ones which have been around for awhile. Many of the bars open and shutdown or change names in a short period of time.
TGI Friday's is a good traditional American bar and restaurant serving food and drinks. Is usually busy with decent music not played too loud so you can still have a chat.
Hard Rock Cafe - no large city nightlife scene is complete without it's own Hard Rock Cafe. The Hard Rock Cafe Roppongi is located right in the centre of all the nightlife action, just across from TGI Fridays. Right in front of The Hard Rock Cafe is the Hard Rock Store to buy your souvenir t-shirt.
Jumanji is a night club located just down the laneway from TGI Fridays. Playing loud dance music until 5am. Warning - there are plenty of African men (from West African - Senegal and Nigeria) on the streets of Roppongi trying to get you to visit some of the bars. These men are mostly harmless and can be a good laugh. Though generally they are trying to get you into the bars and strip clubs where the prices are much higher than other bars and clubs in Roppongi. There are 2 main shopping plazas in Roppongi. 1 is the Roppongi Hills complex and the other is Tokyo Midtown which features the Galleries shopping plaza with a range of high end shops and restaurants.

Finding an ATM Bank Automatic Cash Machine in RoppongiIt is not easy to find an ATM ( Bank Automatic Teller Machine) in Roppongi that accepts international issue bank cards. There used to be a 7Eleven store on the main road, just down from Roppongi Crossing though that is now closed. All the other conveniences stores like Lawson have ATMs but they only accept bank cards issued by Japanese Banks or Citibank, The only ATMS that I could find was in Roppongi Hills Shopping complex, Enter the West Walk and turn left just after the information counter and there is are 2 Citibank ATM machines they accept Mastercard, VISA, Cirrus, Maestro cards. Roppongi Hills is around 380 meters walk from Roppongi Crossing. If you are planning a big night in Roppongi then make sure you cash up before you arrive.
